Quick answer: Kayla Hewitt of Hewitt Homes spent seven years at one brokerage before joining Keller Williams Kansas City North, part of WIN Network in Kansas City, in September 2025. After going through BOLD, starting MAPS Coaching, and building a brand for the first time, her business is up 188% year over year. She closed seven homes in March 2026 alone, after closing 13 in all of 2025.
Why would an experienced agent switch to Keller Williams?
Kayla wasn’t looking to move. She’d been at the same brokerage since she got licensed and, in her words, was firmly against changing. That started to shift when she attended Mega Camp and saw how much Keller Williams invests back into its agents.
“Once I saw everything that comes with Keller, everything that is offered: technology, support, accountability, coaching… there’s a long list.”
What she wanted most was a way off the roller coaster. Seven years in, she was still a “lap agent,” working whatever business happened to come her way, with no plan behind it.
What is BOLD, and what does it do for a new KW agent?
BOLD is Keller Williams’ intensive seven-week training program focused on mindset, lead generation, and building daily habits. Kayla signed up her first week in the office. Coached by Amber Rutherford, she came out of it with something she’d never had before: a plan.
“Before, it was sink or swim. Set your goal, that’s your number, now go figure it out. Now I have a roadmap, a GPS of how to get there.”
She told her team leader, Morgan Earnhart, she learned more in her first seven days than she had in seven years. BOLD gave her broken-down goals, a lead generation routine, and a clear vision for her business and her personal life.
How does coaching at Keller Williams create accountability?
Kayla meets one-on-one with Morgan each month and also works with a MAPS coach. As a lifelong athlete, she says that structure fits how she operates.
“If you give me the play, I’m going to execute it. I don’t want to show up empty-handed.”
That accountability is what flattened the roller coaster. Instead of spreading herself thin, she focuses on a handful of strategies, including video and a YouTube channel, and does them consistently.
How did she build a real estate brand for the first time?
Before Keller Williams, Kayla didn’t have brand colors, a logo, or a clear identity. Working with WIN Network’s in-house marketing team, she built a brand around something she genuinely cares about: pet adoption. Her adopted dog appears on her signs and marketing, and she sponsors a pet adoption with every closing.
The signs get noticed. People call to ask about them, and past clients refer friends who share her love of dogs.
“I am obsessed with my signs. I’ve never had my business put up front so much. Now I truly can put my brand out there.”
What does it mean to run real estate like a business?
A few years ago, a second grader in her sister’s class asked Kayla how many houses she’d sold. She didn’t know. She’d never tracked her production, built a P&L, or set a budget.
Now she knows her numbers without looking: units, spending by category, and where every dollar goes. That clarity is why she set a goal of 40 closings this year, nearly triple last year. Her reasoning: if she closed 13 with no plan and no technology, there’s no reason she can’t hit 40 with direction, tools, and a game plan. Going into Q2, she already had 16 deals pending or closed.
“I feel like my life is a movie right now. I’m doing things I never thought I would do.”
Is the culture at Keller Williams competitive?
Kayla’s biggest surprise was how collaborative the office is. Agents mastermind together weekly in the training room, and top producers share openly what’s working and what isn’t.
“It’s always collaboration over competition here. There’s not one person you couldn’t go knock on the door and ask for help.”
Were her fears about switching brokerages justified?
Her biggest fear was change itself: a new office, new people, not knowing anyone. None of it came true. “I built up a lot more in my head because I had never made a change. Not a single one of them came true.”
Is Keller Williams the right fit for every agent?
Not every agent, and WIN Network leaders say so upfront. The model works for agents who want to grow in some way, whether that’s more units, more time back, or becoming a better business owner. Agents who don’t want accountability, training, or a plan will likely find it a bad fit.
Kayla’s advice for agents thinking about a move
“It’s going to feel really scary. But when you finally decide to do it, everything is just so different. There’s a whole other side to my business. It’s changed my life in a lot of ways.”
